Incredible Adult Foster Care Home Renovation
In late March of 2022, a client of mine, Kari Herman, successfully purchased a new house that would allow her to turn her lifelong dream into a reality. Background
Kari Herman is a BSN, RN-BC certified in gerontology, the study of seniors. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Nursing from SVSU, she went on to work for care organizations such as MyMichigan Home Care and Seasons Adult Day Services over the last 24 years. MyMichigan presented Kari with numerous awards for her outstanding work, including but not limited to, MVP, Preceptor of the Year (2021), and Top Performer of the Year (2020 & 2021). Early this year, Kari decided it was time to turn her lifelong dream into a reality by opening up an adult foster care (AFC). With her many years of extensive experience and passion for senior care, finding the perfect property to turn into a wonderful, inviting, and safe home for senior residents was the top priority. After months of searching and multiple offers, we finally locked down the right house.805 West Midland Rd, Auburn, MI
This house was in rough shape and desperately needed TLC, but it was a job Kari was ready, willing, and able to take on. Pictured below are the before photos of the house
The Process
Once we closed the deal and the house was officially Kari’s, she got to work. A Warm Welcome
After almost four months of hard work, the residence was now a fully licensed AFC home welcoming the first resident in late September. Welcome Home Senior Living is a 6 bed AFC located in the city of Auburn, MI that offers:24/7 care and support for seniorsmedication administrationgrooming and bathing assistancefull meal and housekeeping services
Welcome Home Senior Living’s mission is, “to provide a natural home and family-like setting which is often a perfect fit for many seniors. The care is very personalized and person-centered.” (Herman, Kari).
